Overall pretty good. We sat upstairs inside by a window which can be open to feel the breeze, pretty cool. It has a sports bar feel to it upstairs. Reggae type music was playing and it was a good vibe though I suspect it would be a bit more rambunctious at night (we came for lunch). The service was decent, not overly personable but kept us stocked with napkins. We both got a burger which were very good. Mine had jalapeños, green and banana peppers and grilled onions. Both had cheese melted onto the party which is always a good touch. $35 before tip for two good sized burgers, fries, a beer for me and a margarita for her. I wasn't blown away by the place but wasn't disappointed either. It's worth stopping in.

Up-sell, up-sell, up-sell! The only reason this isn't a one star is that the food was fair. Not great - fair. Pros: Food was alright. Prices were a little below what I would normally expect from a beach gimmick place. AC worked. Cons: Our server would do well selling used cars. All spiel with little actual service. They actually stopped us on the middle of our order because their pager went off and "Someone's food is up". They came back 5 minutes later and we had to start over. Almost everything out of their mouth was an attempt to sell us something "not on the menu" or an upgrade to what we actually wanted. TV screens everywhere. Most were set to sports, but several were showing the latest Fox/CNN news churn, with lots of plane crash, ISIS and other uplifting stories that are just what you want to see when trying to relax at the beach. This place is obviously a drinking hole. Not the best choice if trying to find a meal for your family.

Stopped in here for our first night in St. Augustine and enjoyed the atmosphere. Laid back environment with live music upstairs, a patio, and a smaller quieter dining room as well! Service was a little slow but it was a busy Saturday in a tourist area so that's to be expected. Everybody liked their food although I'm convinced I had crab shell in my crab cakes, so maybe stay away from that! Overall, food was good and drinks were served in the typical take home souvenir glasses! We went back on our last morning for breakfast after hearing how great it was and were pleased too. Quick in and out before heading back and reasonably priced!

Came here with my mom for lunch on a Monday. We sat upstairs and got a window seat which was really nice. Cramped tables the chair behind me and mine were back to back. Service was okay. The girl didn't look like she wanted to be there and disappeared for a while at a time. There happy hour consist of 50 cents off beer. But apparently doesn't apply to the sweet water 420 which is what I ordered. We both got the small size burger which was delicious. Half order of fries was enough for two to share. They have onion rings also but you have to ask for them, they aren't listed on the menu. Food came out super quick.

I really want to love this place...but the food is meh, our server was more worried about her regulars at the bar, and I always leave feeling guilty for not seeing why it's "World Famous." I had the fried flounder which tasted fishy (fresh fish shouldn't have that taste), the vegetables were drowning in oil and mushy, and the conch fritters were CHEWY, like beef jerky, but the baked potato wasn't bad. The live music is great and the upstairs bar has a nice atmosphere but if I'm looking for live music and drinks while on vacation, I want a view! I'm sure I'll try again in hopes that I'll finally see it.

Flounder, clams, black beans over rice & slamming slaw. Ricardo sang live music that made dinner enjoyable . Lexi was an awesome server. Beautiful name for A beautiful young lady.

A great find! Gator tail appetizer was outstanding. Shelby provided wonderful service. Wes Polton, the live entertainment, rendition of Pink Floyd's "Wish You Were Here" was well worth a toss in to the tip jar. You will enjoy it and it's worth a visit.

What happened? Oasis used to be one of the places I'd recommend to visitors, but not any more. Service was sketchy at best, and the food extremely overpriced for what it was. Meals don't come with sides, and $8.99 for a single fish taco is crazy. I'm guessing they stay in business because of the bar and live music, because it's not for the food anymore.

    (2)
  • Kerry J.

You gotta love that Oasis has "World Famous" baked into its name. I'm not sure that anyone outside of Florida (or St Augustine) knows this place exists. However, it's a charming place and the dedicated T-shirt stand out front may prove me wrong - perhaps folks come from all over to experience the Oasis. This is a no-frills sports bar atmosphere that's popular among locals and tourists. I can only speak of the breakfast, which I usually stop in for when I'm in town. Again, no frills, but exactly what you come to a place like this for. The two egg breakfast will set you back $5.99 and come with toast or a biscuit and hashbrowns or grits. Not too greasy, but not health food. I hear their burgers are great.

We were sunburned and exhausted Sunday afternoon after surfing. Oasis was close. I love lucking out when you try someplace new -- they train a very prompt and fun staff, and my blackened chicken wrap was delicious. Oh, and they played the women's volleyball match. Nice staff, nice patrons -- not at all the drunken mess I expected to find! We will definitely be back.

I shake my head at the reviews that are less than 5 stars. This place is your typical beach restaurant with really good food! We had steamed shrimp (delish) for an appetizer... Then for the entrees we had the famous fish sandwich, buffalo wings and a crab cake sandwich. All of them were better than most places like this (including the Back Porch in Destin.) I really thought everything was great! Fries were hot and fresh... All the food was fresh... I have no complaints. Just a tip though... Sit upstairs, it's cooler up there because the first floor tables can get a little hot from the door constantly opening.

Wonderful food, great atmosphere and awesome live music. Unfortunately kinda crappy service, but that won't keep me away!

  • Tiffany M.

Excellent drinks, clean establishment, good and hot bar food, outstanding customer service. 5 stars! We walked in and sat at the bar. Waitress was so friendly and helpful. Food came out super fast. Ordered chicken fingers and fries. We Had a Bloody Mary, two beers, a Long Island and screwdriver. All excellent.

Visiting St. Augustine for the first time, and figured we'd stop by the "world-famous" Oasis restaurant. There were plenty of open tables, but none of them were clean, so we flagged down a waitress and waited for her to clean it. When we were finally seated, service took way too long considering it was a Thursday morning. When the food finally arrived, they had messed up two orders. I ordered an omelette with home fries, and was sorely unimpressed with the quality of food. The lone bright spot was the biscuits! Their homemade biscuits were absolutely fantastic! However, biscuits alone aren't enough to make me want to return to the Oasis Restaurant.

Busy casual restaurant. I like stopping in here every year on vacation. Menu is limitedbut always good. My son and I bothhad the gonzo burger, burger with bacon , ham, and lots of cheese. Highly recommended. The 3 of us split an order of gator tail. Has a good breaded flavor. Service was slow, but was prettybusy. Would recommend.

Annoyed at the fact the restaurant is closed this week. Just a note on the door. Hey! It's summer prime time!? Right? Closed for a week?

My husband and I had lunch at this restaurant, the service was ok. We had the fish sandwitch and could not finish. it was tasteless and not cooked enough. I had hoped to have good sea food in Saint Augustine Florida but was very dissapointed. Illinois Vacationer

Do you like fried rubber bands and call it clams? Complained to waitress who said "Sorry" but didn't take off bill!!! Other than beer - Run Forest Run !

I'm struggling to find out why this place is world famous? I'm guessing it's because they are world famous for one and done customers? That's what they are getting from me. The place is dirty, dingy, and has a nasty spring break smell to it in the middle of November. They don't know what they want to be. A dirty karaoke/live band joint, or a dirty below average smelly restaurant. I showed up at 8:15ish, they closed at 9p. I struggled to find something on the menu to eat. I ordered the $11.99 special burger. It was charbroiled and seared with what seemed like all the junk stuck to the bottom of the burger that accumulated all day long from the grill. The fries were ok. But had this seasoning on them that wasn't very appetizing. If I would have known the fries came with this seasoning already put on them, I would have requested them plain. I ate the whole burger and fries. I will not lie. But I have been on the road all day and was absolutely starving. I know I will be regretting that decision for the rest of the night and all day tomorrow. This place is gross. My server was ok. Although I had to get up and get my own napkin. Added tip: The water is nasty too.

Nice place worth visiting. Came here for breakfast and everything was good except for the hash browns which were burnt and over cooked.

WTF no more draft?? We used to love this place for a great draft, steamed clams, and great music., I know things change but somebody made a big mistake here! Good luck!

  • Phillip H.

Had lunch there March 19th sat down and noticed that the menu had changed went to order and found out that fries no longer come with the sandwiches burgers or hotdogs they are now extra also they have changed their curly fries from seasoned to regular which the waitresses had to take off our bill because the kids didn't want regular curly fries We would drive from orange park Fl to eat there at least once to twice a month depending how often we get to St. Augustine now we will have to ask ourselves if it is worth driving over to the island to eat there

    (2)
  • Heather T.

Not worth it. Not sure what this place is world famous for, but the food was nothing special. The atmosphere is that of a dive beach restaurant, but the restaurant is not on a beach or waterway, so it really just ends up feeling cheap and dirty. Food: not worth the price or a special trip. Mediocre at best, and although the portion for the chicken was enormous, the seasoning was not well cooked into the chicken. Would not return.

Are you kidding me? What a waste of $55 for lunch! I should have known better when I ordered a bucket of oysters and the waitress told me I had to shuck them myself! She did tell me if I ordered a dozen they'd shuck them for me!?!? WHAT? I went ahead and ordered a dozen at a whopping $1.08 EACH oyster. They came out with all the fixings which I was thankful since the oysters were so small I needed the crackers as a filler. To go with my oysters I ordered the shrimp skewers. This dish was accompanied by a scoop of yellow rice and a bowl of steamed veggies that we've all seen at the frozen food section at the grocery store in the 20lb bag for $2. The shrimp clearly started the day in a freezer as pre packaged food. No way were these skewed on site. This dish of disappointment set me back $15.99. My wife ordered a $10.99 basket of steamed (more like stale) shrimp. She also ordered a veggie potato for $7.99 topped with the same crappy steamed veggies they served me in a bowl. Our fountain drinks were 2.30$ each. When you add all this up it came to $55.72 with tax! What a rip off!!! If you think this place is good you haven't done to much dining out. NEVER AGAIN!

  • Ashley L.

Terrible tourist trap. Mediocre food at best. If you want seafood don't go here. Maybe for drinks and burger but don't waste your money. Staff seemed nice and friendly besides our server of course but oh well.

  • Lara H.

We sat at the bar at 9AM on a Thursday in April. Not too busy... There were still tables available. The girl behind the var was very attentive and friendly. We each built our own omelette and had home fries, biscuits, and fruit bows for sides. All the food was well prepared and tasty! The coffee was also good, not bitter and still strong enough for our northern taste. The best was the local hot sauce called Taste Bud. Made the omelettes the best we've had on this trip!!

Good food. Gonzo burger is huge and you won't leave hungry. Service was OK. Not bad. Atmosphere was nice.

    (3)
  • El C.

Food is bad to mediocre. Prices are high. Not the most attentive staff. Like another review says, I'm still trying to figure out what makes this place "world famous". There are plenty of other options for good food than this place.

    (1)
  • Rich G.

The staff was great. We visited at lunch time and ate in the upstairs bar/restaurant area. Our waitress Sunny took excellent care - refilling our ice tea - checking in with us from time to time to see how we were doing. So the staff was great but the food was average. The French fries could have been hotter - a bit on the limp side. The burger was ok but not the best I've had.

    (2)
  • Kelsey O.

Food was fine, very casual atmosphere. Most menu items were fried and fish entrees did not come with a salad option for a side. Wouldn't consider this place 'world famous' but not bad for a quick bite to eat after the beach.

    (3)
  • Fred S.

NO DRAFT BEER. Went last night. Place was pretty dead upstairs. No wonder. NO DRAFT BEER. Couldn't believe it. Used to come hear every year. No more.

    (2)
  • Tom B.

Very poor food. The Minorcan chowder tastes very strongly of salt and lacks the smokiness and complex spices of a good Minorcan chowder. French fries are frozen crinkly cuts, like Ore-Idas from a supermarket freezer case. Crab cakes are tasteless and have a soft, gushy texture; like baby food. Horrible. Coming out I felt like a rube who'd been snookered at a carnival.

    (1)
  • Jordan O.

What is this place world famous for, because I don't really know... $20 was way too much to spend for 6 medium shrimp, 6 medium scallops that were, "alright." The highlight of the meal was the curly fries. Nothing special about this place, and the location (not on the water, no views/ambiance) leaves much to be desired.

    (3)
  • April F.

Worst food and dining experience I've had in a long time. Horrible service and a very bad meal. We left sunset grille to come here and I regret that decision. I'll never eat a meal here again.

  • Bill W.

What a joke ! The kitcken closes at 9:00 , We showed up at 7:45 for dinner ,which is plenty of time to order , however , the rude servers rushed us as if they wanted to leave , then once we ordered they watched us the whole time to see when we would be finished . This place used to rock ! Now it's gone way down hill , too bad .

    (1)
  • Richard T.

Great place to sit up stairs and have a few wings and a ice cold beer. The gar or tail is cooked a little different; however it is pretty good. The price and parking hold this place back, the food is not great but average bar fare. Will be back many times I am sure , the staff is awesome too!

  • Mark S.

HELPFUL TIP Call before heading hear. We only come for the steamed oysters. Fried food here tastes the same between fish and French fries. Arrived and decided to have a pound of snow crab....since no oysters were available for the buckets, just on the half shell. . So 2 very small clusters showed up. That's it for $25?????? WTF DONT MAKE THIS MISTAKE!

Causal dining upstairs and downstairs. They play live music upstairs at 6:00. I ordered the snow crabs cooked perfect. Seasoned veggies were very good. I really enjoyed this place we will be back for sure.

Great place for breakfast. Wife variety of selections. Great atmosphere and great service. Had fun with the stuff they seem to enjoy it. We will be moving to St. Augustine Beach in the near future and this will definitely be our spot for breakfast

This is a St Augustine staple. The food is always good. It's kind of a bar so expect that kind of atmosphere. If you're not looking for loud music and drunk beach goers I suggest going at lunch but whatever you do don't pass up on this spot

    (5)
  • Charlie A.

Live music most nights. Good beer selection, but only a couple of local choices. 44 TVs, but when we asked for ESPN HD, manager said only 1 has HD converter, and 43 of them have sucky SD picture.

We will never be back to the Oasis. Three people in our party left with (what we believe to be) food poisoning after dinning at the "World Famous Oasis." Thanks for a ruined vacation!

This is one of my favorite places to eat here in St. Aug. I love there virgin piña coladas. Atmosphere is so wonderful and so is the food. .

Breakfast review: Yummy biscuits! Scrambled eggs are a little dry. Total beach atmosphere. We love to walk to the Oasis from the beach for breakfast whenever we stay in St. Augustine. Service can be a little spotty at times. Waitress was really confused by the concept of an iced coffee.

    (3)
  • Rachel L.

Great place for casual fare- burgers, soup, sandwiches....and drinks, of course! We really enjoyed sitting on the upper floor deck.

    (4)
  • Shannon W.

The only people who get excited to eat here are tourists. All of the locals know that the vast majority of the fish served is farm raised and the menu consists mostly of fried food that is mediocre at best. My overall impression of this place is borderline mediocre food that is overpriced.

    (2)
  • Don C.

Ok in all the years I lived and visited St. Augustine I never went thinking it was a tourist trap. It actually was very good. Decent selection of typical beach restaurant fare- burgers, seafood. I had the fried scallops which were very good. Great specials. Looked crowded we had no wait by going upstairs. I'd go again.

As an ex-Freeport, Long Islander, I've been stopping here when on I-95 for several years. My goal? To enjoy the Chili Special modeled after the one I used to get at Erhardt's on Woodcleft Canal. And it's always been worth it. But this weekend that changed. Someone altered the chili recipe! Mind you, the chili is not bad. It's loaded with chunks of real beef, rather than chopped meat. But that's NOT what goes on a Chili Special. Please return to the old recipe! Thanks.

We've only eaten breakfast at this beach-type bar/restaurant. We like to eat upstairs, but have eaten downstairs before. The food for breakfast is great; service can be spotty. Sunday, I had a Poinsettia and it was great, although, it's kind of hard to ruin a Poinsettia unless you have cheap champagne. My scrambled eggs were a little overcooked, but not brown, thank goodness. Cheese grits were devine. One in our group had pancakes and they looked light and fluffy. She said they were great. Another had French toast which he enjoyed. My husband had basted eggs, which were done perfectly, with hash browns. The potatoes were cooked with onions and delicious. We'll be back the next time we're in town!

  • Arly J.

We were driving down A1A and found this great place for breakfast. It did take them awhile to get to us , as several tables sat at the same time. We had the omelette and the 2 egg breakfast with hash browns, toast and bacon. Nothing extraodinary but great place and food was good. Looks like lunch and dinner are happening They even have an outside kiosk that sells there shirts.

My wife and I went for lunch and Wow. Food was delicious and service was great. We are local, so we've been to the Oasis before, but this time was extra special - our sever, Joey, was incredible. If you go, ask to be seated in his section. His hospitality is amazing. He goes out of his way for his guests (he came over and shucked some oysters that we couldn't get into!). He is very friendly and and speedy. He has such a happy and positive personality that it can't help but overcome you! I myself had the angus burger (I added blue cheese, bacon, green peppers, banana peppers, jalapenos, and provolone) and it was out of this world. It was really delicious and I would venture to say it was one of the best burgers I've ever had. My wife had the chicken Cesar and couldn't stop talking about how fresh the salad and chicken was. In fact, she mentioned "we have to go at least once a week" to which I said "I hope we can go more often than that!" Thanks, Joey. You made it so great! Also: not sure why the guy below is complaining about the price of oysters and "having to shuck them himself." When you order a BUCKET of oysters, it's expected that you'll have to shuck them. Mind you that they are steamed, so it's quite easy (and fun, if you ask me). Leaving a 2 star review because you had to shuck oysters by the bucket? lol sounds like a first world problem to me!

  • Nate T.

Our waitress, Brandi, made our trip to Oasis amazing. She was attentive and so helpful the entire time, our party really appreciated such a welcoming personality. The margaritas were awesome and the appetizers are quite delicious as well. Overall, the Oasis is very good, but the great service is the reason for such a positive review!

  • Jack B.

Used to be a decent place years ago. Not now. I asked the server if my side dish and my son's could be swapped. Sure, she said. "Once it hits your plate, you can do anything you want with it." I was in shock. I ordered the clam strip plate. I could have done better going to Publix's frozen section, and cooked it myself. It was that bad with small nuggets of clam and/or batter just like you find in the frozen boxes of clams. Our party of five's dishes were average at best, except the conch fritters were very good. Never going back.

This was my first visit to "The World Famous" Oasis, and it was definitely a decent experience, even though this place has an identity crisis. The "beach dive bar" feel was great downstairs, but I took a look upstairs and it seemed more like a sports bar with TVs on every wall, and add in a live band? I wasn't sure what they were going for. In any case, the atmosphere was good overall. We were downstairs on a Saturday night. Our server was friendly and helpful, although the service was just OK. There didn't seem to be that many people in the place, but our server wasn't all that available, so that was a little puzzling. WARNING: If you don't want to be seated near children, go upstairs because after 9:00pm children are not allowed up there. A whole horde of families walked in just as we were finishing. Prices were not as good as I would have expected. I feel like for what I paid I should have received more food. But the quality was excellent, and the food came out hot and fresh. I would definitely go back there again for the food alone.

After not finding any healthy choices and mostly the deep fat fried fare, I inquired about the baked fish. The waitress gave me the name of the fish that I never heard of before. I asked if it was wild caught and she said it was farm raised in CHINA. If you want to really ruin your appetite, check out the you tube videos on what they feed those fish. Living next to the Atlantic Ocean, do you really have to buy your fish from CHINA? Must have really cut a special deal on those fish. I decided not to go with the fish and just have a spinach salad. She asked if I wanted broiled shrimp with that and I said okay. The salad was good, however they charged me over a dollar a piece for the shrimp which doubled the cost of my salad. Also, it seemed more like a biker bar, which is fine, just not my kind of crowd. My waitress was very good and honest about the food.

Horrible experience and service... of all we order the Bloody Mary was the only thing I enjoyed. we started with some oysters what a a mistake that was...oysters were dirty, un washed and certainly not fresh... They couldn't even get the chicken fingers right... Never again..

  • Darlene P.

Worst food I have ever had here. I only give two stars because past visits were good. Shrimp was way over done and had to send them back. One set of fries were under cooked, the other order was over cooked and over seasoned. However, the service was very good. Will probably give it another try but maybe not too soon. I know they can do better.

Food was ok. Nothing amazing. Went here to celebrate our engagement that evening. Shared with the waitress our good news. Not much of a reaction. Nothing from the management. Disappointing.

I've been to this restaurant 3 times and each experience is worse than the last. The staff are incompetent with poor people skills. After paying our tab over $100, a waitress chased us into the parking lot and accused us of walking out on a $9 tab. It turned out another waitress had the PAID tab and the 2 of them failed to communicate. The waitresses were yelling at us and being very dramatic over THEIR miscommunication. After everything was figured out, neither one of them apologized for their mistake. The food and live music are decent, but sadly the rude staff earn this place 1 star from me. We will never go to The Oasis again.

  • Keith B.

Went here with 4 adults and 4 kids all 7 and under as we were vacationing in St. Aug. Loud, very casual place so it suited us fine. All went in very casually dressed, we actually saw one woman walk in a bikini w/o a coverup. Guys liked, women didn't...but that's not really relevant to this review. :) We went around 6 and it was still happy hour. Great prices on drinks and then the food portions were very good as well as being pretty tasty. Was I blown away, no? Was it good and mostly reasonable, yup. Broiled options .99 upcharge. They don't do anything for birthdays (the adult women were both celebrating, and all this place could do was put candles on a dessert you ordered.

Went here for lunch. I had the Shrimp Po' Boy Special. It was delicious and satisfied by seafood craving. It would have been nice if they had some outdoor seating but the second floor seems great for sports watching. TONS of TV's all around. And there was a fun trivia game on one TV we sat next to. Would recommend the Oasis for a good ol' fashioned lunch.

I kept hearing about how good the breakfast was here. I was very disappointed . I ordered a menu meal and so did my girl friend. About 20 minutes later our waitress came to tell me that my plate had three things that they ran out of my my girlfriend had two. I believe they should of done a better job when we first ordered telling us things weren't available . How do you run out of grits ?

Just awesome. The wait staff is just great .......ask for Joe or Amanda. We have been in town less than 4 days and have been here twice

Five stars In its category! The Oasis is a local institution that has been having fun for years here. It's probably best known for its bar and evening music, but it has great daytime food too. Breakfasts are particularly good, especially weekend when they do biscuits and gravy. Service is excellent. Great fun place. Sit upstairs for breakfast and enjoy!

When in Rome, do as the Romans. When in St. Augustine, eat seafood. So I picked this place to have breakfast. The biscuits are surprisingly huge. The service was friendly and fast.

    (3)
  • Teresa H.

This used to be one of the best places for breakfast in St. Augustine, not any more. The food was below average, except for the biscuits! The homefries were the worst I have ever encountered. The service was just ok, we didn't have to wait for a table but did have to keep asking for drink refills.

Fun bar to stop for a drink after the beach. They usually have live music at night and lots of TVs showing every sport imaginable. The food is nothing to write home about. The "fresh" fruit is actually frozen/thawed fruit and the fish (Basa I think the waitress said) was mush; I took one bite and could barely choke it down. Now I know to go here for the ambiance and cocktails after a great day on the beach!

The steamed oysters and shrimp were very tasty but the shrimp were small and few for that price. However, we did get a few extra on the dozen oysters. RW & LS

Stopped here for breakfast while visiting family in St. Augustine. The place was nice, service was quick and the food was pretty good! We had omelettes, pancakes and french toast, all very good. So were the home fries! My only complaint would be the coffee. Strong but not very flavorful. Your basic "restaurant" coffee.

We had breakfast here and really enjoyed the eggs benedict...the hash browns were so bad inedible...they were OLD. We got to eat breakfast at 11 am so I am sure they were hanging around all AM. Everyone enjoyed their breakfast omelets and sandwiches...all was good except the hashbrowns.

This is not at the beach - not even close. This is a bar with some very inadequate food. I had a fish sandwich and it clearly was frozen fish, microwavaved and then sautéed - atrocious. Don't go here for the food - go for the many TVs and the beer. Inexpensive and borderline service

My second trip to Oasis and it was about the same as the first. The atmosphere is pleasant and the food is good. I had the fried flounder and it was delicious; the potato was good. No hush puppies!! Can you believe it!? The service was very good, however, and I will probably be back on my next trip.

Burger's are about what you'd expect from any sit down restaurant, nothing remarkable. The ribs are dissapointing, too tough and very dry. You can tell they're cooked and kept in the fridge for a few days until sold/thrown out. ie, don't waste you money on the ribs. They might have been better had they been cooked a bit longer at a lower temperature and then servered/sold that day.

Whether traveling up from the south, down from the north, or just vacationing in St. Augustine Beach, the Oasis is a colorful oasis, complete with bikers, RVers, beach lovers, sports fans, beer lovers, and especially, God's gift to man - icy cold fresh oysters on the half shell. It's loud, crowed and festive, with no less than a dozen flat screens assaulting the senses from every direction. The Manorcan chowder is a spicy local fish soup, and the New England clam chowder offers award winning comfort and flavor. The extensive pub menu is mouth watering, and the drinks are free flowing. Service is happy, efficient and friendly. I will go out of the way to stop here whether staying in town or not . A short drive from I-95 over to A1A is worth the effort. The joint is aptly named. I truly believe the location is the main reason this place stays busy. I had a fish wrap and it was delicious.. the margarita was a little on the weak side and liquid-y. Service should have been better.

I was a patron at the Oasis on Friday night and just had a few drinks with friends. It was not overall a fantastic experience or a horrible one, but this restaurant earns one star for me due to what we witnessed in the parking lot from the staff. Two of the wait staff, one of which was our server Pam and then another one we did not know, were actively engaging several female patrons in the parking lot. It appeared to be a dispute over payment of the bill, and as my girlfriends stood there and watched, the wait staff got very aggressive and belligerent with the patrons, and I even saw a waitress start screaming at this poor woman that was just standing there and had not said anything. My friends and I stopped and were horrified over the treatment these women received, and after the waitress grabbed the manager and even a pair of police officers while accusing them of not paying a tab, in the end the waitresses disappeared and the manager advised the group of women that everything had been paid and they could go. No apology for the staff behavior or language used in confronting the patrons, no apology from the servers-- nothing. My friends and I were so disgusted, and watched the ladies leave in near tears. You better believe I would never support a restaurant that allows their staff to engage patrons (even if they thought they were in the wrong) and to not apologize in the end when falsely accusing patrons of stealing. I was a waitress for over 5 years, and would have been immediately fired for that type of behavior. I understand people do not expect much from an establishment like this, but if you do not mind being engaged in a hostile manner or being disrespected by the wait staff, feel free to take your chances. But as a longtime resident, I have never been more disappointed and expect more from my city than this.

After a sunscreened and salted body day complete with sand crusted toes, me and my little ones LOVE the Oasis. Located just off the beach...seriously, right there!...this is our favorite stop for yummy fried food and a super casual atmosphere (nobody cares if we have sand stuck to our legs!). I am quite sure the food isn't superior to others, but the atmosphere and friendly staff make it a sure stop on our way back home from the beach. This place is kid friendly, even though it really is a bar, and the patio with the breeze, the pretty quick service, and nice waitstaff keep the kidlets entertained and full-bellied for the drive home. I have been going to this little place, which is now a much bigger place, for twenty years...and I still love it. This is a St. Auggie beach landmark and will continue for years to come. Hungry and thirsty beach goers and tourists are sure to love it too.

It was a rainy day at the Aligator Farm. We decided to end our day at The Oasis. I really enjoyed the food and the service was right on. A great place to watch football. We are planning another trip to St Augustine in a few weeks and will be dining at The Oasis again. The thing that impressed me the most was a benefit raffle they were holding for a sick employee and his family. You dont see this kind of care an concern for employees enough by employers. It made me feel the need to pay it forward myself. Thanks and C U soon. :)

Explain to me how this became " World Famous" . PLEASE!!! The fresh fish came right out of the freezer. The grease from cooking all those world famous dishes were evident in how you stuck to the booths and chairs. My waiter when ask a question concerning an item on the menu responded as if he had just landed from another country. Lunch was extremely disappointing! I ordered the world famous crabcake and it tasted like a composite of everything that had been " fried " in the last month! This is truly a drinking establishment trying to be a "World Famous" Restaurant.

Ill come here with some friends to enjoy the million t.v.'s they have and I enjoy the great beer selection. The employees are great and full of character. The breakfast is very well known amongst us locals, as I work at another restaurant and often come here for breakfast after our employee meetings at our work, so it's gotta be good right? The food is decent, but nothing spectacular, you really go for the atmosphere and friendly faces. Also, they have fun live music such as Those Guys and Stacy Barnes!

We love Oasis for breakfast! They have excellent omelets, pancakes, and muffins. We have eaten lunch and dinner here and it is enjoyable, but our favorite is Breakfast! Also, I would have this on my list for watching sporting events since they have an amazing amount of televisions available.

Just terrible. Teen staff that could give two hoots about your dining experience. Ordered apps and entrees and both appeared at the same time. When we mentioned it would have been nice to have had a moment to eat our apps, the waitress asked if we wanted it put under the heat lamp for a while. That was grilled grouper, are you kidding? And that was one pitiful small portion for the $17 price. Never again.

  • Chris S.

The food here was pretty good, albeit a little bland. The prices were average, but they had a pretty good beer selection. This is definitly a good place to take kids. Its loud, there's video games and T.Vs, and a lot of kids food to choose from.

    (3)
  • David B.

Fried food (from the sea and otherwise) in all it's greasy glory. The beer's cold, the fries are salty and the grouper sandwich (which is almost certainly not grouper) comes with a pickle. Ask for a bottle of Tabasco if you like to spice it up, as this stuff comes a little bland, but it is definitely fresh out of the fryer.

Okay, so he peels the label off his Bud. According to a very sweet bar tender here at Oasis, this is a true sign of sexual frustration. NOT. But thanks for the warning. Stopped in for a quick beer and to admire all the bikes out front. Harley Man reigns!!!! Very amazing beer selection on tap, so, good place to quaf a few and get acquainted. Didn't eat; couldn't get the smile off my face long enough.

Located near the beach, this eatery is a good place to stop by for breakfast before heading out or for dinner at the end of the day. We came here on the recommendation of a co-worker and were a little disappointed. The food is decent, but don't expect anything special. The conch fritters are more bread than conch. The dipping sauce for the fritters was nice and spicy. The hamburgers are meaty .... thick and tasty patty topped with ham. We would return for their homemade desserts ... chocolate sauce tops and complements their creamy peanut butter pie well.

"Midnight at the Oasis"....We always sing this when we go to the Oasis. We love it for what it is. A place to drink and eat decent food for a decent price. Oh and people watch! My husband and I love to go have a few drinks and watch a game on one of the gazillion TV's. Food is no big woop. This visit we wanted to watch some basketball so we headed upstairs, but it was packed. So, we walked down to their outside patio. We had a very nice and efficient server. I wish I could remember her name! The only thing I will say about the patio is the music was pretty abysmal. It didn't have the vibe of a beach bar, more like an old folks home. It was a creepy sort of jazz that should only be played during brunch at the retirement villa. Kenny G would have been upset! Come on, Oasis! Keep it beachy and current!

I'm going to write this review of Oasis strictly as a drinking establishment, as I did not have the chance to eat any food on my recent trip in. I think the other Yelpers have covered that aspect quite well, however, so just check out the other reviews. Rest assured, if I had the chance to spend more time in this place gulping down delicious beer, I would've definitely ordered SOMETHING. Location- great. Located right off A1A just near the beach. The ocean breeze hits you as you're walking in, and it has a very relaxed, beach-going vibe to it. There is a large restaurant type seating area downstairs, or you can head upstairs to a more bar type atmosphere. Lots of tables, and a huge bar offer up plenty of seating, even on busy nights. There are TONS of flatscreen TV's lining the room, where you can usually catch sports channels, although they do offer all the NFL games on Sundays, and I believe UFC fights, as well. They have a full bar, of course, but the draft beer selection is very impressive. I was very happy to see that they had Sam Adams on tap, but then.... No way. Sam Adams Octoberfest? SCORE! Hard to find my all-time favorite beer on tap, but it's here at Oasis. That automatically made my night, and it would take a lot to knock it down. Overall, the atmosphere was very chill. A lot of folks, young and old, sitting around, drinking beers, eating bar food, and watching sports. The service was very good, my waitress was very attentive, but very relaxed, and really took care of us. No drama here, and that's the way I like it. I would definitely drop a five star on this place, however it is a tad bit pricey... you're looking at about five dollars a draft. I absolutely don't mind paying that for delicious Samuel Adams on tap, but it's hard to swallow paying that for a Miller Lite. However, it is nice to find a place that offers up a fun atmosphere with no drama, tons of great beers on tap, and good service. Oasis is that place. Will definitely be back some time again soon, and will try to sample some food!

Went here many times for their amazing breakfasts and now i am back again with the UF surf club to watch a florida basketball game. We drove up from crescent beach specifically to come here and we were fullly satisfied. Our waitress Peggy was super nice AND funny, but when my freind and i went to the bathroom my whole crew left- accidently leaving behind my 1/2 pitcher.. When we came back, to realize it was gone, we were sad, especially since we lost the game, so we asked the bar if they would replace the 1/2 pitcher. The bartender came back with a full pitcher of our shocktop not to mention an entire cup of oranges. This place is a five star restaurant with amazing customer service.

I could give this place two different ratings. I will start with the positive - the bar is great , you can always find interesting regulars and tourists to talk to and they pour a good drink. The staff is always very friendly and is a mix between good looking women and guys who always like to shoot the breeze. They have live music, almost every night, from solo acts to bands playing music you would expect to hear near at the beach. The place is packed every time I go there. On the down side I have never thought the food is that great. The fish in the sandwich I had was mushy and the clam chowder is very bland. The oysters are good, but it is hard to screw that up. Overall I really enjoy going to the bar, getting a cold one, listening to the music and watching the day go by.

Just wanted to add that the Chili Cheeseburger is awesome (if you opt for non-seafood). I had the broiled scallops last night and they were good but not great. If you're upstairs, try getting Jessica, she's great. Also, try to hit the place when "Those Guys" are playing.

Tried this place for Breakfast and wasnt impressed. There were about 6 empty tables when we came in and they made us wait for about 10 minutes before seating us. waitress came over after another ten minutes and took our beverage order. Coffee was an hour old at best took a while for our food to arrive and when ordering had to listen to speech about not sure if you can still have that breakfast is over soon. while we were waiting for our food to be served guy was by the front door with a watch telling people breakfast ended and they wouldnt be serving lunch for another half hour and sent people to another local restaurant. Eggs arrived not cooked as ordered didnt even want to bother trying to get it fixed server was playing the duck and dodge with all her tables doubtful I will go back there for Breakfast maybe Lunch or Dinner

Back in the day (how I hate that phrase) this used to be THE casual place to come to. I'm sad to say that with subsequent visits over the years, the food and service have been a disappointment. I'm not sure if one of the reasons is because they expanded (Oasis used to be teeny tiny). Whatever the reason- please come back old Oasis- you used to be a real find.

  • Kelsey O.

Food was fine, very casual atmosphere. Most menu items were fried and fish entrees did not come with a salad option for a side. Wouldn't consider this place 'world famous' but not bad for a quick bite to eat after the beach.

NO DRAFT BEER. Went last night. Place was pretty dead upstairs. No wonder. NO DRAFT BEER. Couldn't believe it. Used to come hear every year. No more.

Worst food and dining experience I've had in a long time. Horrible service and a very bad meal. We left sunset grille to come here and I regret that decision. I'll never eat a meal here again.

Great place to sit up stairs and have a few wings and a ice cold beer. The gar or tail is cooked a little different; however it is pretty good. The price and parking hold this place back, the food is not great but average bar fare. Will be back many times I am sure , the staff is awesome too!

Live music most nights. Good beer selection, but only a couple of local choices. 44 TVs, but when we asked for ESPN HD, manager said only 1 has HD converter, and 43 of them have sucky SD picture.

Five stars In its category! The Oasis is a local institution that has been having fun for years here. It's probably best known for its bar and evening music, but it has great daytime food too. Breakfasts are particularly good, especially weekend when they do biscuits and gravy. Service is excellent. Great fun place. Sit upstairs for breakfast and enjoy!

When in Rome, do as the Romans. When in St. Augustine, eat seafood. So I picked this place to have breakfast. The biscuits are surprisingly huge. The service was friendly and fast.

We hit this after a loooong day at the beach, completely exhausted and craving seafood. We loved all the food, it was greasy, salty and absolutely delicious. Service was great, atmosphere was nice and casual. Definitely a favorite, will definitely go back!

Visited for dinner. Wait staff were pleasant and attentive. Food was good. Lots of selections on the menu. Good place for large groups and families. Fast service. Got our food quickly. I'd go back.
